Bars in the UK Are Starting To Use Pasta Straws to Reduce their Plastic Waste
As we all know, ocean plastic is a huge problem. In fact, the UN predicts that if we continue to allow plastic to enter our ocean at the current rate, by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish.. can you believe that?! To remedy this issue, in October 2020 the UK government introduced a ban on single-use plastic straws (as well as plastic stirrers and cotton buds). The ban makes it illegal for all catering establishments such as bars, restaurants, cafes and pubs to display plastic straws, hand them out, or even offer them to customers. With around 4% of the world’s plastic waste being that of plastic straws, and England consuming 4.7 billion plastic straws a year, it’s clear that this change was very much needed.
Thankfully people all around the world are using plastic straw alternatives, and in the UK they’re now drinking from Stroodles — Pasta Straws! Lost Boys Pizza
Lost Boys Pizza have been stroodlin’ with us since mid 2019!
Who knew a vampire pizzeria was just what the lovely folks of Camden were after?! But here we are… a quirky little spot where the ceiling is lined with black and white 80’s movie prints, the lampshades are made out of cocktail umbrellas, and spooky touches run throughout! The pizzas are black thanks to the use of charcoal in the dough, the staff are some of the friendliest around and the cocktails are another level! If you want to stay for another drink, we’d recommend popping down to their absinthe bar, Croque Monsieur, hidden away downstairs!

London Marriott Hotel County Hall
Marriott County Hall have been stroodlin’ with us since mid 2019!
Aligned with the UK’s plastic straw ban, plastic straws have been removed from all bars and restaurants at Marriott hotels. This move has resulted in London Marriott Hotel County Hall joining our Stroodles Movement, and offering their customers our famous pasta straws! Gillray’s Steakhouse & Bar, their restaurant on the River Thames, serves seared-to-perfection steaks sourced locally from O’Shea’s Butchers, and is the perfect place to kick back and relax with a handcrafted cocktail served with a Stroodle Pasta Straw!
